Hunting FAQs

What does the hunting rate include?

Hunts include meals, lodging, license, landowner tag, hunting guide, vehicle and state sales tax. Alcoholic beverages, gift shop purchases and customary staff gratuities are not included.

Where will I stay?

Most guests stay at the headquarters lodge.

For more seclusion and an elevated level of personal attention, guests may stay at our high-country Costilla Lodge, Costilla Lodge is available for the archery and the first, second and third October rifle hunts for small groups of 16 or less.

No matter which accommodations you choose, Vermejo Park provides luxury lodging and dining to all our guests.

Who can accompany me on a hunt?

Vermejo warmly welcomes everyone in your party. One youth hunter, age 18 and under, may accompany any trophy deer or elk hunter at no additional charge. The youth hunter receives a Vermejo Park Ranch landowner cow elk tag and may harvest a cow elk.

For non-hunting guests other than youth cow hunters, the nightly rate is $550 plus tax.

Does Vermejo Park offer taxidermy services?

For your convenience, Vermejo contracts with two independent Dallas-area taxidermists during our hunting season. The caping of your mount and delivery to either of our contracted taxidermists are included in your hunt fee. If you want your cape and horns delivered to any other taxidermist, an additional shipping fee will be assessed. Please note that taxidermy fees are not included in our rates.

Does Vermejo Park offer meat processing and shipping services?

Vermejo contracts with an independent wild game processor who is onsite and can process and then ship your meat to you. Please note that meat processing and shipping fees are not included in our rates.
